'Oh German People Are So Nice'

Concept/In East Asia, people seldom express themselves in public. They tend to be quiet and reserved due to their cultural upbringing. On the other hand, Western people feel free to express what they are thinking in public.

Without any punctuation marks and graphics, the meaning of the sentence "Oh, German people are so nice" is unclear. However, in East Asia, the sentence can have multiple interpretations. People understand it in their own way, and sometimes they can be sensitive, annoyed, sneering, or even laughing.

"What do you mean?"

German people are more direct in expressing their feelings, so I expected them to respond to this sentence by physically carving their ideas into a surface.

Process/The first time I visited Germany, I noticed a lot of graffiti on walls and scratched glass in public transportation stations. It was a new experience for me because Taiwanese people don't engage in such activities frequently.

Initially, I planned to imitate and "design" the scratches. However, after several discussions with Prof. Kasai, I realized that I shouldn't manipulate the font.

The spirit behind these scratches represents rebellion and freedom.
